All India Food Processors' Association (AIFPA )

AIFPA an Association of Food Processing Industries: All India Food Processors’ Association (AIFPA) was established in the year 1943 by some highly acredited luminaries with a vision, which now encompasses a cream of the Food Processors in
India, involved in the processing of Fruits & Vegetables, Meat and Fish, Milk & Milk products, and also the manufactures of Biscuit and confectionery products, Ready-to-serve Beverage and ethnic delicacies etc. Member Industries account for a large percentage of the total production of this industry in India and out of the total exports of processed food products, member industries account for considerable portion of the same.

Mission of AIFPA: The Prime objectives of the Association include the following:

• To promote, encourage and support Indian Food Processing Industry and raise the technical standars of Product quality to    match global standards.
• To seek redressal of the problems faced by the Food Processing Industries in India, which are presumed to impede their    growth.
• To collect, classify and circulate statistic and other information relating to Food Processing Industries, Agri- Exports etc.
• To encourage and finance research projects to study technical problems relating to the Industry.
• To conduct, promote and finance market research, market studies in India and abroad on processed food products.
• To render technical, social and financial help to families of disabled or deceased technical consultants, scientists, food    technologists, experts in agriculture, horticulture,
   marketing etc. as related to Food Processing Industry.
• To institute awards and scholarships to encourage scientists, food technologists, administrators, consultants and     executives who help in growth and development of the Food Processing Industry.
• To Publish a bimonthly Journal i.e. “ Indian Food Packer” as a non-profit activity, which aims to keep the food processing    units abreast of the latest worldwide developmetns in Food Processing Industries.

Role of AIFPA: The Association maintains a close liaison with the research institution like Central Food Technological Research Institute, Mysore; Defence Food Research Laboratory, Mysore; DFRL, Mysore; Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi; Indian Institute of Packing, Mumbai etc. and refers the Problems of the industry to these institutions for a technological solution .

Government Recognition: in regard to various matter related to the Food procesing Industries in India, the Association is duly recognized by the Government and it has close interaction with various Govt. bodies, such as :
i) Union Ministry of Health & Familly Welfare (Central
Committee for Food Standards and its sub-committees)
(ii) Union Ministries of Finance, Agriculture, Commerce, Civil
Supplies and Food Processing Industries.
(iii) Central Fruit Products Advisory Committee, in Ministery
of Food Processing Industry.
iv) National Horiculture Board (NHB), Ministry of Agriculture.
(v) Agricultural and Processed Food Products Development
Authority (APEDA), Ministry of Commerce.
(vi) Bureau of Indian Standards’-its variation Sectional
Committess on subjects affecting the industry.
(Vii) Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on Value
Added Tax (VAT).

AIFPA AWARDS:- AIFPA has instituted several Awards, which are given every year to selected personalities and selected Research Scientists and other experts who have made significat contribtion in different areas for the development of Food Processing Industries in the country.

SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS:- AIFPA also organizes regular Seminars, Workshops and Training Progrmames for the Food Processing Industries Industries to bring awareness in the areas of Technical matter, Quality Assurance, WT. and TBT matters, Finacial ratings and Developments in the Food Processing Sectors.
